A few thoughts from the Camp Director about Lakeside's WebCam
Lakeside has installed a web cam for several reasons. The main reason is that it's fun. It's available all year, so friends of Lakeside can take a peek and see what the weather is like, how much snow we have on the ground, things like that. Eventually, we'll add one or two additional cameras to provide a glimpse of other areas of the campus.
During summer camp sessions, access to the camera is by password only. This limits viewing to parents and other individuals to whom we have given specific permission. The password is changed each week during summer camp.
A few parents who have seen their child on the web cam have called us because their child wasn't smiling, or because they were sitting and watching an activity rather than joining in. Please realize the web cam provides just a snapshot of your child's camp experience (if you happen to see him or her). You may see your child for a few minutes during afternoon free time, for example. During the rest of the day they are engaged in a wide variety of activities in places all over the campus.
The camera provides a little peek, just for fun. If you happen to catch a glimpse of your camper, please don't give in to the temptation to use it to evaluate your child's camp experience. Even if the camera doesn't catch them smiling, or if it catches them during a quiet moment, please be assured they are more than likely having a great time at camp.
Also, please remember to limit your viewing time to just a few minutes. This will improve access for everyone who wants to take a look.
